DIRECTIONS

The Vale of the White Horse Inn is located on the Eastern edge of the village of Minety just off the B4040 on the South side of the road. It is a large building overlooking a small lake. It is just West of the bridge and you cannot miss it driving along the B4040.

Minety is a rural village about six miles East of Malmesbury, three miles West of Cricklade, six miles North West of Swindon, seven miles South of Cirencester and two miles South of the Cotswold Water Park.

To reach Minety from London and the East, take the M4 to junction 15. Turn right (North) onto the A419 towards Cirencester. Follow the A419 for about seven miles and turn left (West) onto the B4040 towards Cricklade and Malmesbury. After about one mile you will reach Cricklade. Go straight through Cricklade on the B4040 towards Malmesbury. In order to go straight through Cricklade, you turn left at the “T” junction into the High Street and then you turn right at the mini roundabout. There is also a second mini roundabout as you are leaving Cricklade - you go straight across this. Between Cricklade and Minety on the B4040 there is a set of traffic lights at Leigh where you go straight on. As you approach Minety you will see The Vale of the White Horse Inn just over the bridge and on the left.

When coming from the East on the M4 it is also possible to reach Minety from junction 16 of the M4, but you need to know the route or be good at map reading! See the directions in the penultimate paragraph.

To reach Minety from the West take the M4 to junction 17. Turn left (North) onto the A429 towards Malmesbury. When you reach the roundabout just before Malmesbury, go straight on towards Cirencester and Crudwell. After less than a mile you will come to a second roundabout. You will see a BP garage on the opposite side of the roundabout. Turn right (East) onto the B4040 towards Charlton, Minety and Cricklade. When you get to Minety you will see a small crossroads with a building site on the left. Go straight on and you will see the Vale of White Horse Inn on your right just before the bridge.

If you are approaching from the North, take the A419 from Cirencester South for about seven miles and then turn right (West) onto the B4040 towards Cricklade and Malmesbury. After about half a mile, you will reach Cricklade. Go straight through Cricklade on the B4040 towards Malmesbury. In order to go straight through Cricklade, you turn left at the “T” junction into the High Street and then you turn right at the mini roundabout. There is also a second mini roundabout as you are leaving Cricklade, you go straight across this. Halfway between Cricklade and Minety on the B4040 there is a set of traffic lights where you go straight on. As you approach Minety you will see The White Horse just over the bridge and on the left.

If you are approaching from the South you will be crossing the M4 at either junction 15, 16 or 17. Follow the directions above from either junction 15 or 17.

If you are approaching from Junction 16, take the B4042 West towards Wotton Basset, Brinkworth and Malmesbury. Bear right at the first roundabout. Go straight on at the Wotton Basset roundabout (T H White Landrovers are on the left before the roundabout). You will then go under the M4. Take the first right towards Leigh and Ashton Keynes. After about three miles you will see a turning on your left to Minety, do not take this turning but continue straight on to the Leigh Crossroads. When you get to the lights at Leigh crossroads, turn left. You will see The Vale of the White Horse Inn on your left after about 1 mile.

From Tetbury: Take the B4014 East to Malmesbury. You will see a turning on the right to Malmesbury town centre at the Dyson Factory –go straight on. You will come to a “T” junction with a garden centre opposite –turn right. After 200 metres you will see a BP garage just before a roundabout –turn left onto the B4040 to Charlton, Minety and Cricklade. You will come to Minety after 6 miles. Go straight on until you see the VWHI on the right.
